Turning pages, changing futures
Founded in Washington, D.C. in 2020, Girls and Literature (GAL) is a global nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to education for girls. Through literacy programs, book donations, resource distribution, and mentorship programs, among others, we empower young women to see themselves as change-makers and leaders. Today, GAL’s impact spans four continents, with a volunteer network in over twenty countries, united by a shared belief in the transformative power of education.
Our reach
The book shipment process begins by organizing and holding book drives in community hotspots. The donations are then sent to communities both domestically and internationally. Girls and Literature has donated over 1,000 books and held tens of read-alouds, with the help of a volunteer and chapter network that spans the globe.
