Founded in 2020, Girls and Literature is a student-led, 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to assist girls around the world who do not have easy access to education. We hope to give girls the opportunity to educate themselves, become leaders, and create their own change in the world.

GIRLS AND LITERATURE
A SNAPSHOT OF OUR WORK
Girls and Literature (GAL) was founded in the Washington D.C. area in 2020 and has achieved both a domestic and international reach. In the United States, GAL has assisted Title I schools in improving student reading levels. Internationally, the organization has worked with students in Uganda, Kenya, Southern India, Nicaragua, and Zimbabwe as well as Afghan Refugees, among others. And, we are just getting started!

HOW DO WE HELP?
Through book shipments, read alouds, volunteer events, and our newest initiative, Rising in Research, Girls and Literature is able to impact the greater global community. The book shipment process begins by organizing and holding book drives in community hotspots. The donations are then sent to communities both domestically and internationally. Girls and Literature has donated over 1,000 books and held tens of read-alouds, with the help of a volunteer and chapter network that spans the globe.
